Dental crowns are used to repair teeth that have been badly damaged by decay or injury or to correct cosmetic imperfections. Dr. Welch can make the crowns in the office, which makes it possible for a patient to get a dental crown placed in a single day.

Tooth crowns are placed over weak or damaged teeth to help provide tooth protection, improve tooth strength, and/or restore tooth appearance. Crowns restore teeth by covering them completely, from the tooth's surface to the gum line, which protects them from further infection or damage.

Why might you need a dental crown?

Tooth crowns are one of the most common types of tooth prosthetics used by dentists, as they are excellent tools for a variety of tooth protection and dental restoration purposes.

Dr. Scott Welch may recommend a dental crown or crowns if:

  • You have a severely broken or worn tooth
  • You have a tooth that has multiple fillings or a large filling
  • You have noticeably misshapen or discolored teeth
  • You've had a root canal procedure
  • You have had a dental implant or need a dental bridge
